2025 Awards Rules and Restrictions
Submissions are open from May 1, 2025 to June 15, 2025.
To submit a project for consideration, you must be the primary credited Property Master(s), a credited Assistant Property Master with full permission from the Property Master(s), or an authorized representative of the production company.
The Property Masters Guild and/or its representatives will not be liable for any potential NDA violations. When you submit, it is your responsibility to obtain any required permissions to submit any supporting materials.
An eligible Property Master is one who is credited as the Property Master by the producers.
A credited Property Master who was a unit property master is not eligible.
Additional Property Master(s) are also eligible, but must have worked on at least 50% of the entire production, and must also be credited alongside the primary Property Master in the credit roll. In the case that there are more than one Property Masters credited as primary Property Masters, you may submit the project alone as long as the other Property Master(s) have been notified.
As television shows are eligible by season rather than episode, all Property Masters who meet the threshold of credited for at least 50% of the season are eligible and must be equally named in the submission.
In the event of a dispute over a Property Master credit, the Property Masters Guild will defer to the person(s) credited in the end credits of the project. In the event that there are no end credits, the Guild's Awards Committee will rely on call sheets, crew lists, and/or affidavits to determine the appropriate credit for the project. By submitting, you agree to abide by the decision of the Awards Committee.
A Property Master need not be a member of the Guild to submit their work. However, only members will be eligible to vote on nominations and awards.
Acceptable proof of eligibility include: a screengrab of the credit roll, a crew list, a call sheet, an affidavit from the Production Designer, Unit Production Manager, Line Producer, Director, or other supervisor.
IMDb credits are NOT sufficient for proof of eligibility.
Feature film submissions must have been released between 01/01/2024 – 12/31/2024.
Short films, web series, commercials, and music videos must have been released between 01/01/2024 – 12/31/2024.
Television submissions must be submitted by season, not as individual episodes, and must have at least 50% of the season released between 01/01/2024 – 05/31/2025.
Projects can only be submitted in one category, even if they qualify for multiple categories. It is up to the discretion of the Property Master(s) which category a project is submitted as long as the project meets the requirements for that category as defined here.
If a project has been nominated previously, it may not be resubmitted even if the following year’s release date window would allow it. An example would be if a television season overlaps two years of eligibility, if a director’s cut is released in a subsequent year, or for any other reason that a project is re-released. If the project was submitted in a previous year and did not receive a nomination, it may be resubmitted for consideration.
IMDb is an acceptable proof of release as well as promotional materials or other media confirming the release date.
All submissions must be submitted here.
All submissions should be complete and correct upon submission. Any corrections will be allowed only during the limited Errors & Omissions window of June 23, 2025 to July 6, 2025.
Supporting materials must be in the form of a .PDF (no more than 15 pages) or images (15 max).
Projects that do not meet the above requirements or do not provide sufficient proof of eligibility will be removed from consideration.
The Property Masters Guild reserves the right to make a final ruling on all submitted projects as well as the proper accreditation of the Property Master(s).
As a benefit to Guild members, submissions are $45 for members and $125 for non-members. The cost is per submission, but after two submissions in a category, you may request to have the submission fee waived for up to two more submissions by emailing submissions@propertymastersguild.org. Additionally, non-member submissions come with an $80 coupon for membership to encourage you to join (expires 12/31/2025 and do not stack).
Every accepted submission will have limited time to review the materials presented. Any additions, omissions, or corrections must be made during that review window of June 23, 2025 through July 6, 2025, or will be rejected. The Awards Committee will reach out via an email from submissions@propertymastersguild.org regarding the errors and omissions check.
If a Property Master(s) or Assistant Property Master(s) attempts to knowingly and fraudulently claim work that is not their own, that person's submission(s) will be rejected with an official communication warning against fraud attempts. If they fraudulently submit again, they will be submitted to the BOD for an ethical review, which may lead to a lifetime ban from the awards show. The submission fee is not refunded.
In the case of multiple fraudulent submissions in the same awards show year, the entirety of the submission(s) for the first year will be rejected with warning, and the second year a fraudulent submission is offered, the possibility of a ban will be in effect.
This penalty will not be enforced retroactively for any submissions received before the 2025 MacGuffin Awards submission period.
Every Property Master nominated for a MacGuffin Award will receive an official certificate acknowledging their accomplishment. Property Masters who receive an award will receive a winner’s certificate in place of a nomination certificate. Winners will also receive one trophy per credited Property Master/Co-Property Master.
Property Department team members are eligible for nomination and winner certificates if they made significant contributions to the success of the Property Department. People outside of the Property Department can be eligible for certificates if they have made significant contributions to the success of the Property Department. It is the responsibility of the submission’s Property Master to determine which team members are considered eligible.
Vendors are also eligible for nomination and winner certificates. It is the responsibility of the submission’s Property Master to determine which vendors are considered eligible.
The process of creating certificates is time consuming and laborious. The project’s Property Master(s) are solely responsible for sharing the award certificate request form with their team members to complete before the certificate deadline. Incomplete or late information will result in a certificate not being produced. Please look out for communications from
submissions@propertymastersguild.org regarding the certificate request form.
The Property Masters Guild makes no restrictions on Property Masters or crew members promoting their project submission privately or on their own social media accounts.
However, they may not send mass communications to voters or post on Guild channels without Guild approval. The Guild has several official FYC ad vehicles that can deliver campaign materials to voting members through official channels. For more information, please contact: IngleDodd Media - PMG Awards Department at pmgawards@IngleDodd.com.
Property Masters Guild members in good standing may vote on award submissions and nominees. You are not required to be a Guild member to submit, but only Guild members in good standing are eligible to vote.
Please be aware that becoming a PMG member can take up to 30 days for approval.
